Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent UVB
Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent UVB
UVB is an essential wavelength naturally found in sunlight, and is beneficial for most — if not all — reptiles. UVB is critical to helping your pet’s bones stay healthy and strong, and plays a role in a variety of other essential functions.
The Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent is a UVB bulb with 5% UVB output and 30% UVA output to stimulate natural reptile behaviors and promote better health. This bulb can be conveniently installed into a standard E27 threaded socket.
Instructions for Use:
Install the Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent in a Zoo Med Naturalistic Terrarium Hood and place over the basking area. This bulb performs best with low-UVB reptiles in small arboreal (tall) terrariums at or less than 24" tall, or small terrestrial (wide) terrariums at or less than 30" long. For larger enclosures, we recommend the more powerful Zoo Med T5 HO Reptisun 5.0.
Compact fluorescent lamps have a “burn in” period when the light and UVB output is the greatest. For your new Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent, this period lasts about two weeks. After the burn in period is over, you may want to move your lamp closer to the basking site. Refer to the instructions included with this product for recommended distances during and after the burn in period.
Replace the Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent every 12 months to maintain performance. For best results, use with a Zoo Med Digital Digital UV Index Radiometer or Solarmeter 6.5.

Different reptiles have different UVB requirements. Use the Arcadia UV Index Lighting Guide to determine what UVI it needs in its basking area.
Distance is measured from the tip of the bulb to the basking area or reptile. UVI estimations are approximate. Note that UVI is reduced by 30-40% when the UVB bulb is placed over mesh screen.
