Ceramic heaters do not make a good source of daytime basking heat. If you are looking for a basking heat bulb for a miniature species, we suggest the Zoo Med Nano Basking Spot Bulb as an alternative!

Reptiles are ectothermic, which means that instead of producing their own body heat, they depend on external sources like the sun for warmth. This heat energy is used to digest their food, maintain bodily function, and stay generally healthy. Since reptiles don't produce their own heat, we must provide the heat they need with heat lamps.

Most reptiles don't need heat at night — in fact, it's actually beneficial to let things cool down in your terrarium like they would in nature. However, sometimes things get too cold. If your terrarium is getting too cold for your species' needs, the Zoo Med Nano Ceramic Heat Emitter provides a way to gently boost air temps without disturbing your pet's sleep cycle.

The Zoo Med Nano Ceramic Heat Emitter works best for extra-small reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates living in particularly small terrariums. Due to its size, this lamp should not be used with species greater than 5" long or in enclosures more than 12" long.

Compatible with the Zoo Med Nano Dome Lamp Fixture

For best results, use with the Zoo Med ReptiTemp Digital Thermostat to make sure your terrarium doesn't get too warm at night.
