Mercury vapor bulbs simultaneously produce heat, light, and UVB for your reptile. Mega-Ray Mercury Vapor Bulbs are the most reliable mercury vapor bulbs available in the US!

Using cutting edge technology coupled with 25 years of dedicated research and testing, Mega Ray has significantly reduced the huge decay rates often seen in other mercury vapor lamps. While other bulbs decay as much as 80%, the Mega Ray Mercury Vapor Bulb decays less than 30% over the life of the bulb.

The 275w Mega-Ray Mercury Vapor Bulb is a self-ballasted PAR-38 True Frosted Flood Lamp. A true flood lamp, it will disperse usable UVB in a 30" circumference at a 20" distance.

The Mega-Ray Mercury Vapor Bulb must be replaced once every 18 months to maintain good performance.

Minimum Distance: 34"

Maximum Distance: 46"

Instructions for Use:

We strongly recommend using mercury vapor bulbs with a Solarmeter 6.5 to make sure your reptile is getting the right amount of UVB.

Use with a wire lamp fixture rated for at least 275w to prevent overheating.

Due to extremely high UVB output, this bulb is best suited for use in large enclosures (at least 48" tall). However, be familiar with your specific reptile's UVB requirements and adjust the distance between the basking area and bulb accordingly.

An additional halogen heat bulb or UVB bulb may be required to accomplish the correct temperature and/or UVB gradient for your reptile.  It is very important that you monitor the heat at the basking area and adjust the fixture-to-basking area distance accordingly to maintain a proper heat gradient. ALWAYS triple check the temperature at the basking spot — never risk burning your reptile!
