Due to the extreme hot weather that can affect the city of San Antonio, we recommend having your live insects held for pickup when your temps get above 90 degrees, or when the temperatures start to get below 50 degrees.
During the warmer parts of the year when temps can easily reach the upper 90s/low 100s, your dubia will thrive and you will only need a heat source for them if you are using your AC and keeping your house pretty cool, ensure you stock up on water crystals to keep your dubia hydrated. Superworms and mealworms withstand high temperatures well so will be a good option for you this time of year as well, just be sure to leave ventilation as the humidity can get high and this can cause issues in their feeder bin. Hornworms and BSFL are always great choices for reptiles, but when it gets hot you will need to find a way to cool them down or they will grow extremely fast and pupate into their moth forms.
