UVB is an essential wavelength naturally found in sunlight, and is beneficial for most — if not all — reptiles. UVB is critical to helping your pet’s bones stay healthy and strong, and plays a role in a variety of other essential functions.

The Zoo Med T5 HO ReptiSun 5.0 UVB is a T5 HO linear fluorescent bulb that is twice as strong as standard T8 ReptiSun 5.0 bulbs, enabling them to provide correct levels of UVB to low-UVB reptiles housed in larger enclosures. This high-quality bulb is made in Germany and used (and recommended) by zoos, veterinarians, and top reptile professionals.

Instructions for Use:

Install the 12" Zoo Med T5 HO ReptiSun 5.0 UVB in a 14" Zoo Med ReptiSun T5 HO Terrarium Hood and place over the basking area. This bulb tends to perform best with low-UVB reptiles in small terrestrial (wide) terrariums between 24-30" long.

Replace the Zoo Med T5 HO ReptiSun 5.0 UVB every 12 months to maintain reliable UVB output. For best results, use with a Zoo Med Digital Digital UV Index Radiometer or Solarmeter 6.5.

Different reptiles have different UVB requirements. Use the Arcadia UV Index Lighting Guide to determine what UVI it needs in its basking area.

Distance is measured from the tip of the bulb to the basking area or reptile. UVI estimations are approximate. Note that UVI is reduced by 30-40% when the UVB bulb is placed over mesh screen.
