"Orange" Isopods (Porcellio laevis)

The smooth/swift isopod (Porcellio laevis) is a type of isopod native to Europe and northwest Africa, although invasive in other parts of the world. The “Orange” color morph is appropriately named for their distinct orange coloration. This species can be identified by their wide, flat body and smooth exoskeleton.

As part of a bioactive terrarium, P. scaber contributes by breaking down food waste, feces, and rotting foliage. However, they are considered aggressive, so it’s best not to keep them with smaller isopods or particularly small reptiles/amphibians. They also make good feeders!
