Frequently Asked Questions

Please do not use the "Checkout with PayPal" button on the next page. We recommend using our credit card processor as there are issues with PayPal providing us with incorrect addresses. If you would prefer to use PayPal please wait until you are on the final checkout page. Thank you!

When will my order arrive?
Orders placed by noon EST Monday - Thursday ship the next day. If you order on Sunday by noon your order goes out Monday. If your order is placed after noon on Thursday it won't ship until Monday. Your order should arrive 2-3 days after it is shipped.

Where do you ship?
We ship throughout the United States, however we don't ship Dubia, Hissers, and Reds to Florida and we don't ship any live feeders to Hawaii.

Why don't you offer free shipping?
Free shipping is offered by some companies. There is actually no such thing as "free shipping". Companies that offer free shipping have actually added their projected shipping costs to the cost of the items, so the more you buy, the more you will pay. We choose to keep our shipping at a flat rate. This way a customer can order multiple items and pay a flat rate of $7.95 rather than adding several items with "free" shipping included in the price.

What if my order has not arrived after 4-5 days?
It is the customer's responsibility to check tracking and keep track of their order. We are not responsible for packages lost by USPS. We will not be held responsible for damage or harm caused by the roaches or cleaner bugs which orders may contain.

What if the feeders in my order are dead when they arrive?
You must contact us within 1 hour of delivery time based on what has been recorded by the tracking information. You will need to provide us with photos of the packaging and the bugs. Replacements will be offered on a case by case basis.

What if I won't be home for delivery?
If you don't think you will be home when your package is delivered, we highly recommend calling your local post office and asking them to hold your mail for pickup. Live insects sitting out in a mailbox or on a porch is the number one cause for a DOA order.

Dubia roaches (Blaptica dubia)

Why Dubia roaches?
Dubia roaches are nutritious, odor free, unable to jump or climb, easy to keep and breed, and enjoyed by many sizes and types of reptiles, amphibians and fish

What size do I need?
Dubia roaches come in all sizes from several millimeters to nearly 2". The larger the pet, the larger the roaches should be. If you're not sure what size is best, order a sampler of several different sizes and see what your pet prefers

How do I care for them?
Please read our care sheet

What if they escape?
Dubia roaches are tropical roaches and will not survive to infest your house in most of the United States. States that have climates that could sustain roaches have generally outlawed them, which is why we do not ship to every state.

Should I breed Dubia roaches?
Breeding dubia roaches is not difficult and can be a good plan if you keep a large number of reptiles. We provide instructions for those who care to try. However, it is important to realize that many people can develop an allergy to dubia or their frass (droppings) with too much handling and constant contact. Our facility has been specially equipped with high quality filtration to manage this problem. Let us provide your dubia as you need them with minimal exposure and risk of roach allergy on your part.

Black Soldier Fly Larvae (Hermetic illucens)

What are NutriGrubs?
NutriGrubs are the larvae of the Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens). They are also called by the following names which have been trademarked by different companies: "Phoenix Worms®", "CalciWorms®" and "ReptiWorms™".
Phoenix Worms® is a registered trademark of Insect Science Resource LLC. All rights reserved.
CalciWorms® is a registered trademark of Timberline Fisheries. All rights reserved.
ReptiWorms™ is a subsidiary of Animal Specialties Inc. All rights reserved.

Why should I feed my reptile NutriGrubs?
Nutrigrubs are high in calcium, reducing the need to supplement your reptiles with extra calcium. They are odor-free, don't climb or escape, and don't need to be fed.

Can I store my Nutrigrubs in the refrigerator?
Nutrigrubs purchased from us can be stored in the refrigerator until at least 2 hours before they are ready to use as long as they are kept in their original packaging

Why don't I have to gut load my Nutrigrubs?
Nutrigrubs have reached a developmental stage called "pre-pupal". This means that they have finished feeding and are preparing to enter the pupal stage from which they will emerge as adult flies. Their bodies contain all the nutrients they need for their transition, nutrients which will be used by the reptiles which consume them.

Why are some of my Nutrigrubs getting dark colored?
The dark colored Nutrigrubs are getting closer to the pupal stage and should be feed to your reptiles first.

Will my Nutrigrubs turn into flies?
If kept at room temperature, some of them will complete their transition and turn into flies. It's important to realize, though that the lifespan of black soldier flies is only 5-8 days and they don't eat during that time. They are hard to breed and so will not infest your home. Interestingly, they are used by some as a means to control house flies.
