Leopard geckos can make a great pet for reptile enthusiasts, whether you're a beginner or experienced. Leopard geckos are interesting and inquisitive little lizards. You can hold them, but they can also be a little skittish.
You want to try and buy your pet gecko while they are young, the best age to get them is up to around five or six months old. Getting them at this age will enable you to have plenty of time to socialize your gecko and allow them to get used to your presence.
Initially, when you bring your pet gecko home you should allow them to acclimate to their new home for a couple of days before handling them. Doing this will allow them to settle after the move, moving homes can be quite stressful on them.
Talking to your gecko is a great idea to get them used to your presence and voice, always talk in a calm soothing manner and they will come to see you as a source of safety and comfort allowing them to trust you and be a friendly family pet.
